David attended a workshop where Robert Goldsmith demonstrated his water colour technique at the Gardens Gallery in Cheltenham. Inspired by Robert’s style the art class recreated a classic painting by Thomas Hearne using a classic water colour wash style.
(22 September 1744 – 13 April 1817)
Thomas Hearne was born at Marshfield, Gloucestershire.
He was an English landscape painter, engraver and illustrator. Hearne's watercolours were typified by applying a wash of subtle subdued colours over a clear outline in fine brush, pen or pencil. His techniques were studied by younger artists such as Thomas Girtin and J. M. W. Turner and many modern water colourists today.
